Are the outside walls of your home covered with any of these annoying little pests on sunny fall or spring days? Left un-treated, the vast majority of them will enter the walls of your home. In the winter they live primarily in the outer walls of your home where it is cold enough for them to go dormant, but warm enough for them to stay alive. On sunny winter days and again the spring, you will likely see them crawling or flying around your house, as the sun wakes them from their dormancy.
Once they have become established in your home, the best way to get rid of them is by vacuuming them up. The only drawback to this approach is that for every one you find in your house, there are countless more still in your walls. The best way to control them is to kill them when they are still outside. We can do that for you!
We spray a liquid insecticide on the outside of your house that leaves an invisible residue everywhere we spray, to kill both the Box Elder Bugs, Asian Beetles & Stink Bugs when they come in contact with it. This residue will normally last about 7 weeks in the fall, and about 5 weeks in the spring (we get more rain in the spring). Once dry, the treatment is safe for people and pets. It is non-staining, odorless, and is EPA-approved for use in commercial, residential and public places.
Stink bugs are very new to the area and we are finding that our treatment does NOT eliminate ALL of the stink bugs like it does with the box elder bugs and Asian beetles. Although it does not get rid of all of the stink bugs, it greatly reduces the amount you will have.
We will also include our Perimeter Pest Control treatment at no charge when doing your Box Elder/Asian Beetle treatment. This will eliminate most, if not all, of the spiders, ants and other crawling pests before they enter your home.
By applying a treatment to the outside of your house, we can greatly reduce or eliminate these pests before they invade your home. The time to treat for these pests is in the spring or fall.
Fall Treatment - In Wisconsin, the best time to treat for them is late September through the end of October. By treating the outside of your home in the fall, we kill them before they enter your home for the winter. In most cases, if you have us treat your home in the fall, a spring treatment will not be necessary. Our treatment should kill between 95-99% of Box Elder Bugs & Asian Beetles, and 80-90% of the Stink Bugs before they have a chance to enter your home.
Spring Treatment - If you didn't get the treatment last fall, we can treat the outside of your house in the spring. As they come out to sun themselves on spring days, the bugs will die when they come into contact with the insecticide residue. If you have neighboring houses, a spring treatment may be needed even if you had the fall treatment because some of the bugs that lived in your neighbors’ house for the winter will fly over to your house in the spring. Our treatment should kill between 95-99% of Box Elder Bugs & Asian Beetles, and 80-90% of theStink Bugs before they have a chance to enter your home.
Box
Elder Bugs are bright red or black with narrow reddish lines on the
back. In the fall they invade the outside of our homes while making
their way inside for winter shelter. Although they do little damage,
the sheer number of these little pests makes them quite annoying.
For some houses, Box Elder Bugs are a problem the entire
summer. If that is the case for you, we will customize a
treatment program to fit your conditions.
Asian Beetles look a lot like the Lady Bug, but are far
more annoying. Like the Box Elder Bug, Asian Beetles congregate in
great numbers on the outside of your home in the spring and fall.
Other than occasionally causing a yellowish stain on surfaces, they
do not do any damage.
The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is an invasive species in the United States. Like the Box Elder bugs and Asian Beetles, you can find them in large numbers on the side of your house in the fall.
